Tell us something about yourself.

I have been very close to Ayurveda since my childhood, as this ancient yet complete science of healing has been running into our family since 3 generations now. My parents and grandparents are all qualified Ayurveda practitioners.  Right from a very young age, I have seen patients being treated with Ayurvedic system of medicine and healing and hence I my firm belief in the methodologies.

I am a graduate in Ayurvedic medicine. Along with, I have studied Modern System of Medicine with completion of MBBS. This provides me with a very unique perspective and skills of treating ailments with modern technology while applying solid principles of Ayurvedic medicine.

What are your areas of specialisation and which segment do you currently work in?

After my double graduation, I was selected by Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth for a 1 year course in Ayurvedic Ophthalmology. I have completed the course and earned certification fromThe Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital in Kerala. This is also one of the biggest Ayurvedic Eye Hospital in India.

Presently, I am working in the field of Ayurvedic Ophthalmology. I am also practicing Kayachikitsaone of the 8 branches of Ayurveda. Kayachikitsa is also known as the internal Medicine of Ayurveda.

What excites you the most about your role/industry?

What excites me most is the potential that Ayurveda has in treating and preventing diseases without any adverse effects. Being a practitioner of both modern medicine and Ayurveda, I can help people understand the crucial role of Ayurveda in treating modern lifestyle disorders.

What is your view on holistic health, wholesome nutrition, and an active lifestyle?

I always feel each and every part of our body is directly or indirectly related to the other part which is in turn deeply associated with our mind and our soul. Thus holistic health is very essential by adding a hint of spirituality with it.

Nutrition again is an important aspect of wellness that not only builds up our body but also our mind and the soul. Activities such as regular exercise, physical work out, Yogasanas etc. are very important in today’s life.

Most of the times, one is not able to reach their potential due to the ineffective and improper utilizations of our body & mind.

My motto is that,” Only in a fit body can reside a fit mind”.

What is the best advise you have gotten from your mentors/industry experts to upkeep with your health?

Following Dincharya (daily regime as prescribed in Ayurveda), Achar Rasyana (moral code of conduct by Acharya Charak) and the principles of the 8 limbs of Yoga i.e. Yama, Niyam, Asana, Pranayam, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, one can attain Samadhi.

Which are your favourite foods, places to eat, places to travel?

I usually eat at home. There can be nothing better than what mom cooks. When I am out I try to have fresh fruit juice and light food with mild flavours and very mild spices. But as Ayurveda says take food of all 6 tastes- Sweet, Sour, Salty, Pungent, Bitter and Astringent; hence I try to include that in my daily meals.

I like travelling and have been to China, Hong Kong, Dubai, Nepal and nearly all parts of India. I like to see flora and fauna of various parts of the world and learn traditional ways of treating diseases that locals employ.

Please share a quick super nutritious recipe to power yourself during demanding days.

In my view, stability and power of mind to cope with the situation is more important than the dietary intake. Of course, your thoughts and strength of mind are also impacted by your health condition, which in turn is highly dependent on food!

In conditions where physical hard work is required milk or fruit juices can suffice.

Please share a wellness and fitness tip that you employ on daily basis to stay in shape and be active.

Walking for at least 45 minutes or jogging for at least 20 minutes daily.

Which is your favorite food ingredient and how do you use it the most?

Black Pepper, I like to mix it with rice, ghee, and a bit of salt.

We come across multiple stressful situations on daily basis as working professionals and in society. What is your favourite way to release tension and relax?

Solving the problem firstly would be the way! In case it still haunts you, you need to interact with your loved ones, spend quality time with them, or sometimes get involved in some other work temporarily. When alone , your favorite music can also serve the purpose!!
