We are delighted to share Kainat’s views and the excerpts of our interview with her. Learn about a dietitian’s take on nutrition and healthy eating habits! And most important of all, how she herself incorporates the principles of holistic living in her day to day client interactions.

Tell us something about yourself.

I am a qualified dietitian and a certified sports nutritionist. I started my journey in the health industry about three years back after completion of my post graduate diploma in dietetics & applied nutrition.

I started my career as a certified sports nutritionist where in I planned the diets incorporating the needs of a highly active lifestyle. Along with I counseled my clients on practicing a holistic lifestyle while up keeping with their personal and professional life commitments.

Currently I am working for a healthcare company as a dietitian and nutrition expert. Apart from diet planning, consulting, and research, I actively engage with the health enthusiasts with my informative writings that are broadcasted via various online and offline publications.

What are your areas of specialization and which segment do you currently work in?

My areas of specialization are fat loss, ketogenic diets, fitness nutrition, and therapeutic diets. Currently I am working with a healthcare company that is involved in nutrigenomics – nutrition as per your genes.

What excites you the most about your role/industry?

Making a difference in my clients’ eating habits and promoting a healthy lifestyle through real food.

What is your view on holistic health, wholesome nutrition, and an active lifestyle?

Holistic health, wholesome nutrition and an active lifestyle influence your mind, body and behavior as they are inextricably linked to each other. So having all these three aspects in harmony will eventually lead you to a healthier and happier life.

What is the best advice you have gotten from your mentors/industry experts to upkeep with your health?

My mentors have taught me that we should never refrain ourselves from eating. There should be no restrictions related to the choice of food but it’s important to know portion control as that is the key to healthy eating.

Please share a quick super nutritious recipe to power yourself during demanding days.

I prefer oats with a good portion of Greek yoghurt and fruits. This wholesome meal gives me the perfect combination of all vital nutrients. Getting right amount of macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and fats via your meals is essential to lead a healthier lifestyle.

How do you maintain your health and your lifestyle?

Being a lifestyle coach myself, I have always believed in the healing powers of holistic living and healthy alternatives. I prefer eating unprocessed food, limiting added sugars in my food, exercising, meditating with positive affirmations and a deep sleep for 8 hours.

Which are your favorite foods, places to eat, places to travel?

I swear by Greek yoghurt! Additionally, bell peppers, berries, and fish are my favorites too!

Favorite place-No specific choice but it should be clean, breezy, and should serve good (fresh and delicious) food!

Please share a wellness and fitness tip that you employ on daily basis to stay in shape and be active.

I go by a strict regime of 8 hours sleep, 15 mins meditation or positive affirmations, and 30 mins weight training or any other physical activity.

Staying hydrated is yet the most important thing. I slurp on as much water I can! It’s not always necessary to undergo a rigorous work out routine. Even an hour of walking everyday can do the job pretty well.

Which is your favorite food ingredient and how do you use it the most?

For sure, it’s Makhana (Fox nut)! I roast them up, add some spices, and have them as a snack. Also, I use them in my porridge, soups, and gravies. The flavor and texture, which fox nuts impart is amazing! They are delicious and health wise great too!

We come across multiple stressful situations on daily basis as working professionals and in society. What is your favorite way to release tension and relax?

Stress has become an imminent part of the fast paced life that we are leading in modern times.

I always recommend that in order to achieve a state of absolute calmness and composure, we need to control our thoughts,  train our mind, and recite positive affirmations. It takes a lot of practice but it’s the most effective way.

If I have time then I go to beach, where I would sip coconut water and relax! Deep tissue massage is another way for me to shed the stress out.

What would you advise our audience to stay healthy while pursuing modern lifestyle?

I believe in an un-compromised but a healthy and an equally delicious diet!

Here are some of my quick tips for a holistic lifestyle and healthy body & mind:

  • Eliminate processed foods and eat only fresh meals prepared from fresh and raw ingredients
  • Control the portions
  • Get a sound sleep so that you can wake up fresh
  • Keep yourself hydrated
  • Working out and exercise for 45-60 mins 3-4 times a week
  • Recite positive affirmations
